Charlies Place in Gloucester

What a little gem tucked away from Good Harbor Beach! I friend brought me here for lunch. I had the clam (chock full!) chowder and lobster(chunks!) mac and cheese! Both came out hot and tasty! Didn't have room to eat it all so unfortunately had to pass on desserts which, I had heard, were divine here! Well, there's certainly going to be a next time!

I go here every year. They have great mac and cheese, and amazing fried pickles (in chip form not spears) i love this restaurant very easy going, friendly servers, friendly customers. Great environment, great dessert also. My girlfriend likes there mozzarella sticks. And i heard good things aboutt here clamchowder. Will go again

We got the lobsta roll and clam chowda. They were delicious. Best I've ever had on both!!! Tasted fresh and homemade. Exactly what we were looking for.

Ample servings, with a good crowd. Coffee was fine. Omelettes were unremarkable but big. Water maybe could be served with ice.

Best fish sandwhich in the city! Homemade chicken fingers, haddock chowder, and the Charlie Burger are other highlights.

Fried chicken was cold in the middle and served w onion rings which were nasty and fries that were fishy. Dont recommend.

It was amazing. Good service. Good food. Cute place. Quick food. If your looking for a cheap and good quality place to eat, eat here. My Mum got a burger and I got squid. Place is insane cheap for insanely good food.

Charlie's cooks fresh sea food dipped in commercial breading and fries it in commercial fry oil. They also buy the cheapest frozen French fries.

Small parking lot. Easily seen from the road. Large portions of food. A great place to share great large amount of food reasonable prices and shareable plates. Food was freshly made and delicious.

I love the ladies who work there. Always very friendly with that perfect amount of character. Comfort food that does the trick. Good prices.

Don't waste your time or money. Poor service. Mediocre food at best.

They were relatively fast getting food out to us but fries too greasy, chicken tenders were not good, and wrap was 1 piece of chicken and tons of tomato. Will not be back

Great food and great wait staff . Went many years ago and it left every good memory. Returned several weeks ago and was still a great place .excellent food just like I remembered it. I love consistent quality!!!!

Food was tasty, cooked just right. Service was super friendly. I had the fried haddock and it was honestly some of the best I have had in the region. I even splurged on the New England Grapenut Custard. If you have room for it you should definitely give it a try.

Visited on what I thought would be a quiet Monday lunchtime but the place actually had a wait. Fortunately, it was only about 15 minutes.Once we sat down, the servers were quick, attentive, and very nice. I had the lobster bisque and the fried haddock dinner. My friends had clam chowder, more haddock, grilled cheese, and a slice of blueberry pie. The bisque was excellent and one friend thought the grilled cheese was "the bomb." There were no complaints about the haddock or chowder but personally, I thought the blueberry pie was too sweet.Would stop by if in the area again.

We loved this place. Small diner, casual and simple. Great stop on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Staff was personable and quick. I highly recommend the cranberry squash soup when it's available.

Good food, homey atmosphere. My fried smelt platter was huge, not greasy & tasty. A lot of home style food for the $. Even on a busy summer Saturday service was pleasant.

Charlie's place is great. Never had cod cheeks, and now I cant wait to have them again. The fried clam strips are outstanding as well.

Great atmosphere. Fast service. Our food was done so quick that we had our chowder with our meals! Haha Blueberry pie was possibly the best and most tasty homemade blueberry pie I've ever had. Our waitress was the sweetest also..didn't catch her name tho. But we will be coming back.

Wonderful breakfast specials. The eggs Benedict florentine were delicious. Very friendly and patient staff. No hurry, just a great meal. You can break out your laptop and get some work done while enjoy their great coffee.

Great breakfast place! Wonderful early morning hours, welcoming staff, clean atmosphere, nicely appointed, varied offerings and daily specials. Friendly waitress gladly customized menu selections. Food was delicious! See you again soon!!

Lobster Mac & Cheese was so good! Best I've had in awhile. Sauce tasted like a light lobster bisque as it should. 10/10. Meant to grab a photo of it but will have to stop by again!

Terrific haddock chowder, their fish is very fresh, and the service is always with a smile. This is a place frequented by locals - no tourist trap!

Discovered Charlie's Place a couple of years ago and try to make it a must stop every time we visit Gloucester. This time in addition to dinner we stopped in for breakfast. It was excellent.

Fried Clams and other Seafood done right! Very good no-frills seafood spot that delivers great customer service and turns out super tasty bites in fast order. Always hit this spot when in North Shore area!

Food was good and although it was dining out the area was well shaded and clean

The clams and lobster roll were divine. French fries crisp and onion rings light and flaky. A great stop. Would absolutely dine here again.

Exceptionally good fried clams! The clam chowder is also very good, creamy and flavorful with very tender pieces of clam and cooked just right! So much more affordable than some of the offerings from this area and the Boston area. We will return next time we are in town!!

The prices are $2.13 for a can of coke roughly $25.00 for a fried clam plate.. Will not be coming here again..

Very good food here. Set up like a basic diner so don't go expecting a grand atmosphere. I did get very good service and great food.

Great food and service. Fair prices. Small seating area so some people had to wait. Saw one couple leave. Parking lot is small also. Already thinking about going back but don't plan to wait in line.

We love Charlies Place. Never a bad meal. Some real bargains to be had. Tuna salad sandwich, and pepper and onion burger, each $4.49. Fried seafoods are great too. Save some room for the homemade apple pie.
